On 1 July 2026, the European project I3-LIGNIN2VALUE officially started and will run for the next three years. The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) programme and brings together 22 partners from 10 European countries.
The project’s objective is to develop innovative approaches for the more efficient use of lignin, one of the main natural components of wood, and to promote its application in the development of sustainable materials and products.
As part of the project, we will contribute to research on the development of environmentally friendly adhesives for the furniture industry and investigate the potential use of lignin in cross-laminated timber (CLT) structures and furniture. The research activities will be carried out in cooperation with industrial and research partners. An important partner in our activities will also be InnoRenew CoE from Izola, with whom we have successfully collaborated for many years.
We believe that our participation in the project will contribute to the development of new knowledge and sustainable solutions in the field of wood-based materials while strengthening the connection between research and industry.
