- They enable high mounting level and quick and safe construction.
- Due to its lower weight compared to concrete construction, CLT is one of the most viable building materials for multi-story buildings.
- Construction of buildings with CLT panels has several advantages. From the high load-bearing capacity of the structure to fast construction and lower environmental impact. In this construction, we achieve the highest possible airtightness, fire safety, and seismic safety. In addition, the facility provides a high level of living comfort.
- Transforming the wood into CLT panels combines fast and precise construction with the aesthetics, comfort and durability of wood.
Main features
Cost competitiveness with classic construction
The cost per square meter of a residential building built in this way (from the foundation upwards) is already very close to the cost of a classic brick building. In the long run, this type of construction generates lower maintenance and particularly lower heating costs. A wooden house is lighter, so it is much simpler to lay the foundation. The insulation consumption is also lower, which ultimately leads to a higher net utility of the building due to thinner walls.
Fire resistance
In the event of a fire, where the burning temperature of an open fire inside a building made of CLT panels is approximately 1200°C, the temperature measurements showed that a 10 cm thick panel heats up by only 10°C in one hour and does not burn out because it is protected by the carbon layer formed by the combustion of wood.
Nor does the wood lose its static structural strength, as in the case of the metal structure, which loses it at 700°C, or the AB concrete structure, which loses its static load-bearing capacity at 500°C.
Seismic safety
In Kobe, Japan, the seismic safety of a wooden seven-story residential tower was tested several times to simulate one of the most devastating earthquakes in Japan.
The full-scale wooden building was built entirely on a seismic table, a platform that can simulate even the strongest earthquakes. The construction proved to be very safe.
